Panhandle People: Tree farm carries on family tradition.

Sneads, FL -

A touch of nostalgia is the theme at a tree farm in Jackson County. Powell Tree Farm located off Old Spanish Trail in Sneads allows a family to come pick out a Christmas tree the old fashioned way.

Owner Mark Powell says it's a great experience going out in the woods and bringing home a tree like when we were young. The tree farm is spread out over eight acres and the upkeep can be an expensive operation. The Powell's however, don't look at it so much as a money maker but more of a public service.

Mark took over the farm after his Dad retired and has since become Vice-President of the Florida Christmas Tree Association. This is a family tradition he plans to keep going and expanding as well.

At the Powell's farm you can choose to cut your own tree, or they'll do it for you up until Christmas Eve.
