A couple of very familiar faces were in attendance Tuesday Night at Gulf Coast State College as the college played host to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Former Florida State Head Football Coach Bobby Bowden and his son former Clemson Head Football Coach, Tommy Bowden were the guest speakers at the fundraiser.
The father son duo answered questions from the audience about their Christian faith, the importance of mentoring and what it was like to play each other on the field. Both Bowden's said, they always took their responsibility as Christian coaches seriously, because so many young football players come from broken homes.
Of course they talked a little football. Bobby Bowden is considered the winningest coach in college football. It was 20 years ago that he took Florida State to the National Championship, but says there is one thing he still wishes he could have done.
Bowden said, "when i was at Florida state we went to every major bowl except the rose bowl of course i would have loved to play in the rose bowl so anyway i am glad that they finally made it. i am excited about the ball game i think it is going to be a heck of a ball game i was very impressed with auburn the other night you know it so Florida state is going to have their hands full"
The fireside chat was a sell out Tuesday Night with all the proceeds going to The Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Bay and surrounding counties.
