A Crestview man is dead after his car plunges into the Choctawhatchee Bay in Walton County.
It happened around ten Monday morning. The man was not wearing a seatbelt.
The Walton County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene on the northern end of the Clyde Wells Bridge shortly after 10:15 am.
The unidentified man was driving a brown ford flex with Okaloosa tags, heading south on US 331 when witnesses say he crossed over the north bound lane, down an off ramp and into the bay without stopping.
When deputies arrived, officials told News 13 the man was flailing and it took several of them to get the man out of the bay.
He was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Miramar Beach, where the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed he died around 11am.
Meanwhile, a dive and marine unit took to the bay to search for any other potential passengers but did not locate any others.
FHP is continuing to investigate the scene and determine the cause of this deadly crash.
FHP has not release the name of the victim.
