Covered Parking Garage Opens at Beaches International Airport
Just in time for the holidays, today, Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is celebrating the completion of construction on the new covered parking project. The covered parking provides shelter for the current rental car lot and the main walkway from the lot to the terminal.
The airport now provides nearly 300 covered parking spots, as well as shading on the walkway leading to the terminal.
"We are proud to offer the covered parking option as an added convenience for our passengers," said Airport Director Parker W. McClellan. "On-site covered parking is a premium service our passengers have been seeking so this is a big step forward for ECP."
The walkway provides water resistance and protection from extreme sunlight, helpful given the amount of rain and high temperatures in Panama City:
Average temperature from May-July is 88.2°F
July sees the highest average temperature (90°F) and most precipitation (7.39 inches)
The additional parking option also provides a new revenue source for the airport, in turn improving the airport's ability to encourage more air service and additional carriers coming into the market.
Airport passengers now have three parking options available covered, short-term and long-term. Covered parking rates are $13 a day.
