In keeping with the Christmas spirit, the Rotary Club of Panama City Beach is donating several thousand dollars to more than 20 different Bay County organizations.
The Rotary Club successfully raised more than 30 thousand dollars from their 6th annual "Grills Gone Wild" fundraiser in November; all proceeds going to 22 area organizations and charities.
At Thursday's annual Rotary Christmas giving luncheon, the club presented those checks to representatives of each charity and organization.
Rotary club president, Chris James, said they are very proud to be able to support these organizations through an event that grows every year.
"Through the years we've learned a
lot about it. A couple of years ago, we didn't know about a lot of the
organizations that are here today for the first time. We learned about them
last year. So, it's really the most personally rewarding thing that we've done
or could do is to see all the organizations that we've helped. We like to
believe that we really are making a difference in our community," said James
James said as soon as the luncheon ended, they would be thinking ahead to next year's fundraiser.
