If you were hoping Santa would bring you a new car for Christmas, but he didn't, there's good news.
Auto dealers are calling this week, the best week of the year to buy a car.
If you need a need something more reliable or just want an update, now is the time to shop.
"I originally brought my car in for an oil change then something else went wrong, so I thought.. I might as well see what I can get with a new car," said Lucas Hernandez, Car Buyer.
The last week of the year is notorious for having the best car deals.
"Christmas is over, we are getting ready to go again for the New Year and we want to finish strong and I think the public knows that," said Dennis Smith, General Manager of Bay Cars.
He says on average it they usually sell about 10 cars a day, but during this busy week, they sell somewhere between 15-20 car a day.
"We want to sell as many of the older models as we can, as well as the newer ones," said Greg Chavers, Sales Manager. "Then the manufacturers wants to sell us as many as they can.. so that's where the advantage comes to the customer."
Dealers are aggressive with pricing, manufacturers are offering high rebate incentives and trade-ins are worth more before the year-end.
"The year model rolls over in just a few days, so as far as when we are appraising their trade in.. We are still booking them out as two year or three year old not a four year old or five year old car, so that really makes a difference as far as trade-in value," said Chavers.
The consumer benefits by finding the right car at the right price and so do members of the sales team, that get to close a few extra deals.
"It motivates the sales staff, they work more hours than normal.. you don't see any sales staff taking days off this time of year because they know that there have been a lot of people waiting for this time of the year to purchase their car," said Chavers.
Some of the larger model vehicles even have special tax incentives available during this time of the year… the next step is a test drive.
