WCSO Searches For Goodwill Store Thief

Posted: Updated:

The Walton County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who tried to steal items from the Goodwill store in Santa Rosa Beach early Sunday morning.

According to a WCSO news release, a Goodwill employee noticed donated items, which had been left at the store's drop off site, in the man's truck.  When questioned about the items by the employee, the suspect reportedly fled on foot.

A sheriff's office K-9 unit responded to the scene at 8:25 a.m. and tracked the suspect to a shed behind St. Rita Parish on Moll Drive.  The WCSO said officers did not find the suspect but did locate his clothing.  The stolen donations were found in a silver Dodge truck bearing a stolen tag, the WCSO said.

The identity of the suspect is unknown; however, he is described as a tall, white male in his late 20s to early 30s.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Walton County Sheriff's Office (850/892-8111) or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers (850/863-TIPS).
