Polar Bear Plunge 2014

Posted: Updated:

A tradition growing in popularity, the Polar Bear Plunge. All across the nation people are jumping in rivers, ponds and pools in freezing temperatures. In Walton County the tradition made its way to the beach. Dozens of thrill seekers made their way to Ed Walline Park where the thrill of jumping into the cold gulf waters benefits the South Walton Fire District.

A donation of $20 or whatever you chose to contribute, bought you a ticket to hang out with a quirky bunch. From the Village People to a man dressed as a monkey, thrill seekers made their way to the gulf to jump in and bring in 2014 with a splash!

All donations collected benefit the South Walton Fire District Department of Relations Committee. This is the first year for the plunge and the district is looking forward to creating a new tradition.

The fire department was pleased with this year's turnout and they are looking forward to a long tradition, filled with many more Polar Plunges to come.
