Shellfish Areas To Reopen

Posted: Updated:

Two shellfish harvesting areas in Northwest Florida will reopen at sunrise Sunday now that water quality tests have cleared the way.

In Bay County, area #1212 (East Bay Section 1) will reopen for the harvest of oysters, clams and mussels.  In Walton County, the temporary closure of area #0632 (Choctawhatchee Bay Eastern) will also be lifted.

According to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, tests indicate levels of fecal coliform are now within acceptable limits.
