Some Bay County kids with big hearts spent their Saturday morning serving others.
The NAACP Youth Council hosted a pancake breakfast on Saturday at Applebee's Restaurant on 23rd street.
This event was the first fundraiser of the year for the Youth Council and all of the money raised will go towards funding the program.
The goal of the NAACP Youth Council is to encourage members to make good decisions so they will prosper in the future.
The group's president, Ashley Frink, says the pancake breakfast not only raised money, but also helped its members learn a valuable lesson.
"I think it was an experience for all of us to be able to experience being on the other side," said Frink. "Instead of sitting down and being waited on, we waited on people. We had to learn patience, and maybe they wanted something extra or things like that. And just having to really be courteous."
The Youth Council hopes to host a similar pancake breakfast again in the summer.
