State Attorney Bill Eddins announced today that Ronnie Lamont Phillips pled no contest to Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon or Great Bodily Harm. Circuit Judge Kelvin Wells sentenced Phillips to 7 years state prison.

The charges arose from an incident that occurred at a home located on North Davis Lane in DeFuniak Springs on June 12, 2013. The defendant kicked in a bedroom door and attacked his former girlfriend with a knife causing injuries to her head and right arm.

Both the investigation and arrest were conducted by the DeFuniak Springs Police Department. Assistant State Attorney Matthew Richardson prosecuted the case.
