Three Arrested in Connection with Shooting in Crestview
The United States Marshals Office, Fugitive Task Force of Alabama has arrested 27 year old Yoni Leonard Calhoun of 431 Peachburg Road, in Union Springs, Alabama.
Yoni Calhoun, was arrested on charges out of the Crestview Police Department, for Armed Robbery With a Firearm, Aggravated Battery With a Deadly Weapon, and Firing Deadly Missiles Into an Occupied Vehicle, along with his accomplices who were identified as Michael T. White, and Yoni's brother Rasheik Calhoun.
Yoni was residing at a residence in Crestview located at 462 North Savage Street, with his brother Rasheik Calhoun. Both brothers had arrest warrants in connection to a string of violent crimes, when Officers of the Crestview Police Department's SWAT Team executed a search warrant at the residence. During the execution of the Search Warrant, two Officers were shot and received non-life-threatening injuries, and Rasheik Calhoun was killed in an exchange of gunfire. Officers also arrested 38 year old Aphrey Benjamin Collins, of 3324 Auburn Road, in Crestview, and charged him with two (2) counts of Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, for his role during the exchange of gunfire.
Yoni Calhoun was not at the house at the time the Search Warrant was served, and he later fled the state to Lee County, Alabama. Yoni was apprehended without incident by the United States Marshals Office, Fugitive Task Force of Alabama, in Lee County Alabama, on Sunday, January 12, 2014.
On January 07, 2014, Michael T. White was apprehended by the Crestview Police Department Criminal Investigations Division for his role during the armed robbery. He was arrested without incident. Additional charges may be possible.
Yoni Calhoun is also currently facing multiple felony charges out of Union Springs Police Department in Alabama, on unrelated charges.
