A Panama City Beach School has a new principal this week, and it should be an easy transition for everyone.
Pending Bay District School Board approval, Keri Weatherly is the new leader of Breakfast Point Academy.
She was brought on as an Assistant Principal last school year. A committee and superintendent Bill Husfelt nominated Weatherly among three other applicants on Wednesday. Thursday morning a first grader surprised Weatherly with a letter showing how excited she is for the school's new leader.
"I am grateful for you to be taking care of us, I might be a principal one day I hope you are comfortable being our principal" and That says, they are grateful that I am here taking care of them, so they know that here at school that they are going to be taken care of and that we are looking out for their best interest and this makes it all worth it", says Weatherly.
Outgoing principal Denise Kelley will be working in the district's main office as Director of Elementary instructional services. The school board will vote on the nomination at their next meeting.
