An afternoon brush fire catches the attention of Panama City Beach Fire Rescue and the West End Fire District.
Capt. Joe Cocco says they got a call on their business line, saying a transient lost control of a fire in the brush behind the Walmart in Pier Park.
When fire fighters arrived on scene they were able to knock the flames down pretty quickly using a brush truck.
There was already a dirt road leading back to the area on fire, which Capt. Cocco says made a huge difference.
"If that dirt road wasn't there it would have been very hard to access, we would have had to wait for the Division of Forestry really to access the fire area.. we wouldn't really have been able to get back here it's really too far back," said Capt. Joe Cocco, Panama City Beach Fire Rescue.
Capt. Cocco says it appears like it could have started as a small campfire that got out of control.
The homeless man did receive a burn to his leg, his condition is unknown.
