Springfield Man Charged with Sexual Battery on 7-Year-Old Girl
Springfield Police announce the arrest of a local man on charges of sexual battery on a child under 12 years of age (two counts) and violation of felony probation.
On the evening of January 23, 2014, Springfield Police were called to Bay Medical Center Sacred Heart emergency room where a father had brought his 7-year-old daughter for treatment. The child had complained of being inappropriately touched by an adult male while at her babysitter's house earlier in the evening.
The child was taken to the Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center where a forensic medical exam and interviews were conducted. The child disclosed that while at the babysitter's house, 3976 DeLisa Court in Springfield, a man named "Larry" touched her twice by unzipping her pants, reaching his hand inside her panties and inserting his finger into her vagina and again doing the same thing, except inserting his finger into her anus.
The investigation further determined that "Larry" is Larry Jacob Stanfill, 31, of either 757 Transmitter Road or 2976 DeLisa Court. Officers obtained an arrest warrant for Stanfill and arrested him at the DeLisa Court residence.
Officers additionally charged Stanfill with violation of probation, as he is currently on felony probation stemming from a 2010 incident of felony battery.
Stanfill was taken to the Bay County Jail and will make his first appearance before a local judge today.
