The Bay County Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 100th Anniversary on Friday night.
This year was a record breaking event, as over 600 guests attended the dinner at the Edgewater Beach Resort.
Friday night's celebration included an awards ceremony recognizing members who play an important role in our community.
The Member of the Year award was given to Claire Sherman and this year's highest recognition, the Lauren Merriam Memorial Award was presented to Hugh Roche, a former general manager of WMBB.
The Chamber also recognized Larry Carroll, the incoming Chairman of the Board. He says he has big plans for the future of the Chamber.
"Our goals this year are to approach the local, the state, and the federal leadership and to give input on issues that concern our memberships," said Carroll. "And to work with our military to continue with our military affairs and the base defense alignment to make sure our military stays here."
President/CEO of Bay County Chamber of Commerce, Carol Roberts, says Friday's event was a great way to celebrate all of the past year's accomplishments.
"We appreciate everyone coming out tonight," said Roberts. "We've had a record attendance tonight with over 600 individuals participating. And I think it's a really good sign of the times and that our local economy is coming back."
