For area wrestlers, an appearance at the State Finals is now a reality. In Class 2A Region 1, Forrest Lang sealed up a sport at the Finals by finishing 3rd in the 152 weight class.  His only loss in the tournament came to the current state champion in the championship semi-final match, and with the win, Lang achieved an elite milestone of his 150th career win.

In Class 1A Region 1, South Walton's William Pickren (106) and Cody Pickren (145) both are region champs. Bay High's Chance Layfield (113) finished 4th, and Bozeman's Jonathan Kenney (138) finished 3rd.

Three Arnold Marlins seal up their spot at the State Finals, Richie McClanahan (120) and Brock Carlan (126) are Regional Champs, and teammate Paul Patterson (132) finished 3rd.

Also in Class 1A, the Marianna Bulldogs took fourth as a team in Region 1, sending five wrestlers to Lakeland. Anthony Ward (120), Jameson Maddox (132), Chris Warf (138), Devin Combs (152) and Trevon Johnson (170) all advance to the State Finals, which start Friday the 14th, and end Saturday.
