Boys Hoops Teams Compete For District Titles Saturday

On Saturday night, area boys basketball teams took the court on the hunt for a district championship- and more important, home court advantage for at least the first round of the postseason.

In Class 5A, the Rutherford Rams took the District 1 title, beating Choctaw 63-46. The one loss Marianna Bulldogs, were dealt their second loss of the year Saturday, as they fell 56-48 to Pensacola Catholic.

In Class 3A, the North Bay Haven Bucs, lost 47-35 to Rocky Bayou. In Class 1A, a slew of district title games took the hardwood. In District 1, Malone dealt Paxton the 77-67 loss. Sneads defeated Cottondale 46-34 for the District 2 crown.

In District 3, Port St. Joe to last year's Class 1A State Runner-Up 58-37, while Chipley took the District 4 crown 63-52. For more information on the 2014 FHSAA Boys Basketball playoffs, you can check out the FHSAA's website.
