Jackie Kuzniar, a Rutherford grad and former Gulf Coast volleyball stand-out, suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident in September. Saturday, dozens upon dozens of people showed up to a raffle with the proceeds going towards Jackie.
Her family saying that Jackie's always been a fighter, and that never quit attitude showed in her time at Gulf Coast, as she's the record holder for digs in a season.
That demeanor, also helping in her recovery, with her parents saying she has a lot of work to do, but they see improvements all the time.
"We have just been so touched and overwhelmed by all the support that Jackie and the family has received," said mom Lunita Barrentine. "Jackie has a huge heart and she's never met a stranger. It's been really overwhelming."
"Her friends are amazing. She's got a big network of friends that are true friends," said dad John Kuzniar. "They are more like family then friends. Kids will drive six hours to see her for four hours and then come back home. She has family all over the country that's coming to see her. It's amazing."
