On Tuesday morning, the Chipley girls basketball team loaded up a bus and hit the road to Lakeland for the Class 1A State Finals. The trip, familiar territory for the Lady Tigers, as this is the second straight season Chipley is making the trip.

Last year, the Lady Tigers settled for second place, as they fell to South Walton in the State Championship game. "I'm real excited," said sophomore Essence Williams. "Hopefully we can bring a ring back home this year instead of just a medal."

"Yes, it's exciting, and we can remember the pain from last year, so that helps to motivate, and make sure all the little things are done," said head coach Kimberly Tuel. "We're going down, we have a job to do, a goal to accomplish."

Chipley and their opponent, Hawthorne, tip off Wednesday morning at 11/CT.

The Paxton Lady Bobcats, the other area squad headed to Lakeland with dreams of a State Championship. Paxton is ranked #1 in Class 1A in many state polls, and is 24-3 on the year. The ladies are looking for their 5th State Championship in school history.
