Local Boys Basketball Teams Take The Floor In Regional Semifinals

On Tuesday night, several area boys basketball teams hit the floor for Regional Semifinal action. The Rutherford Rams, hosting Rickards in Class 5A, and the Rams, winning a low scoring affair 39-35. Rutherford will now host Bishop Kenny on Saturday at the Ram House. Tip off for the Regional Final is at 7/CT, and a win would secure them a spot in the State Final Four in Lakeland.

In Class 4A, Marianna beat Pensacola Catholic twice in the regular season, but the Crusaders won the two games that mattered most- once for the district title, and the other in tonight's Regional Semifinal, 60-54. With the loss, the Bulldogs are eliminated.

In Class 1A, the Chipley Tigers hosting Port St. Joe, and led by Trent Forrest's 31 points, the Tigers win 66-41. They will host West Gadsden on Friday in the Regional Finals. West Gadsden beat Northview 61-54. Tip off is at 7/CT. Sticking in Class 1A, and also making the Regional Finals are the Malone Tigers, who handed Cottondale 66-42. They will host Paxton, who beat Sneads on a buzzer beater 52-50.

Some prep baseball scores from Tuesday night. Mosley beat Rutherford 5-2. Blountstown beat Cottondale 14-1. Colby Mullins pitched a no hitter with 15 strikeouts in the win for the Tigers. Bozeman handled Bay 9-1.
