Two men are behind bars Saturday after firing a gun into a Panama City neighborhood. It happened just after 3 o'clock in the afternoon and it took only hours for police to make the arrests.
Investigators tell News13 several children were playing just a few hundred yards away from where shots rang out. Now, the two men are facing felony charges.
Police say 24-year-old Frank Brinkley drove 17-year-old Hasaan Hooks to the apartments at 1010 North Center Avenue Saturday and Hooks reportedly fired a handgun multiple times into the parking lot in front of the homes.
Panama City Police were on scene and arrested both men shortly after. Hooks is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and Brinkley with principle to aggravated assault.
Both charges carry up to a five year sentence. No one was injured as a result of the shooting.
Brinkley is currently being booked into the Bay County Jail and Hooks was brought to the Department of Juvenile Justice and is being charged as a minor.
Panama City Police are investigating a shooting in a neighborhood on North Center Avenue.
Investigators at the scene say residents saw a car pull up and someone inside fired several rounds in the parking lot at 1010 Center Ave. Crime scene investigators found multiple shell casings near the roadway.
Police say several children were playing in the area at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured. Panama City Police are still searching for the shooter.
