Bay County, Fla. -

Earaches are going around this week.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Emma Stoll from Bay Medical-Sacred Heart Family Medicine says earaches are caused by allergies, viral infections related to the common cold, bacterial infections and wax accumulation.

Dr. Stoll says symptoms include:

  • Ear pain
  • Fever greater than 104 F
  • Sore throat
  • Muffled hearing
  • Dizziness
  • Swelling of the outer ear
  • Redness to the outer ear
  • Warmth to the outer ear

Dr. Stoll explains that earaches typically last for a couple of days, but it can last up to two weeks.  She warns that if the symptoms persist or get worse, see a medical professional.
