A century. That's what one well-known Panama City businessman is celebrating, his 100th birthday. Monday, Ellis Fowhand, owner of Fowhand Furniture, reached that milestone and spent most of it at his favorite place...at work. He's normally there 6 days a week and says Monday was no different. "It may be silly but it means I'm enjoying today and looking forward to tomorrow", said Ellis Fowhand.
Fowhand reached the century mark today, and celebrated with his family. For more than 50 years, Fowhand has owned and operated his furniture story on Harrison Avenue . He only works half days, but in his book that means 6am to 6pm each day. He's well known in the community, calling everyone he meets a friend. Fowhand says going to work is the best thing he does. When News 13 asked "do we see a retirement in your future?" Fowhand responded with "when it comes, I won't be here to see it."
And the birthday boy was not finished celebrating. His family and the community may have had a few surprises in store for him later that night.
