Jackson County Dines Out For Molli Redmon

Posted: Updated:

This week a handful of Jackson County restaurants are opening their hearts and doors to the community for Dine Out for Kids. By eating out this week at certain restaurants you are helping a family with a large medical burden.

The Optimist Club of Jackson County put this fundraiser together to help a local child. At eleven years old, Molli Redmon, from Jackson County has defied doctor's prognosis and all odds. She did this by learning how to walk, read and speak. Molli was born with Spina Bifida, a serious birth defect where the spinal cord lacks its usual protective skeletal and soft tissue coverings. From day one she has had many operations and doctors visits to make her as healthy as she can be. While these procedures were expensive, these visits have had a priceless impact on Molli's life. Mother, Maryellen Varnum, was told Molli would never be able to walk, she'd most likely be blind and deaf. Today, Molli is none of those things. She attends therapy once a week and frequently visits her doctor for treatments.

Wednesday 4/16 through Wednesday 4/23 and next Sunday 4/27, the Optimist Club of Jackson County has arranged for local restaurants to give a portion of sales to aid Molli's medical expenses.
