Washington County Declares Local State Emergency for Flooding

Posted: Updated:

Washington County has declared a Local State of Emergency effective at 6AM on Friday, April 18th.

We urge drivers to use caution when traveling on county roads, particularly dirt roads.  Heavy rains have impacted the Choctawhatchee River, creeks, streams, and ponds.  All waters are elevated.  If you approach an area that has water standing, DO NOT drive through it.  This could be extremely dangerous as water could be hiding deep washouts or exposed pipes that could cave in from the weight of a vehicle.

Additionally, flood warnings are in place for the Choctawhatchee River.  Persons with interests along the river should monitor changing conditions and take precautions to protect life and property.
