We have new information on recalled products that may be in your home. Some of them affect children. News 13 has details in this week's Problem Solver.
First on the list children's bed canopies from IKEA. The canopies are made out of mesh fabric and hang from the ceiling onto a child's crib or bed. They measure about 7 feet long and about 2 feet in diameter. Problem, an infant or young child can get entangled at the neck in the canopy's fabric, posing a strangulation hazard. There have been nine reports worldwide of children getting entangled in the bed canopies. Stop using the recalled canopies and contact IKEA for a full refund. Another item of concern for children, My Sweet Love / My Sweet Baby electronic doll sold at Walmart. The circuit board in the chest of the doll can overheat, causing its surface to get hot, posing a burn hazard to the consumer. Walmart has received 12 reports of incidents, including two reports of burns. Contact Walmart or return to the store where the item was bought for a refund. Whalen is recalling 72-inch Stainless Steel Tool Chests. The CPSC says the inside of the right door has a metal stopper or flange with a sharp edge running the length of the door that poses a laceration hazard. Whalen has received 11 reports of injuries, including nine reports of minor cuts caused by the sharp-edged flange and two reports of cuts requiring stitches. Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Whalen for a free repair kit. And finally, Gunbox brand cases are under recall. The recall includes version 01 of The GunBox™ RF ,(model GBRF1.0); RF+Biometric, (Model GBBIO1.0); and the Premier, (model GBPREM1.0). The model number and "The GunBox™" are printed on a label on the bottom of the units. It is an aluminum, square, clam-shaped case with an radio-frequency ID (RFID) scanner on the top center of the box and two USB ports for charging devices. The Gunbox storage box locking mechanism can open if dropped, allowing access to the gun stored inside. No injuries reported so far.
