The Panama City Police Department announces the arrest of Michael Lee Harris, 52 years of age, of Panama City, Florida. Harris is charged with armed robbery.
On April 16, 2014, Panama City Police officers responded to a robbery at the Family Dollar located at 297 W. 15th Street. An investigation revealed that Harris entered the store and brandished a pocket knife and demanded money from the store clerk. Harris fled the area on foot with money from the store.
Detectives developed Harris as a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 21, 2014, Harris was arrested in the 1400 Block of E. 7th Court in Panama City. We would like to thank the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force for their assistance in the apprehension of Harris.
The Task Force is comprised of members of the U.S. Marshals, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Panama City Police Department, Bay County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Harris was transported to the Panama City Police Department where he was questioned by detectives. After questioning, he was transported to the Bay County Jail.
Harris will make a first-appearance before a local judge on April 22, 2014.
