George P. Hamm, a senior at Bay High School, has been selected as the 2014 recipient of the O’Neal Family Math/Science Scholarship. Hamm will receive $500 to assist with expenses when he enters college this fall. Hamm expects to pursue a bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. Hamm is ranked first in his class at Bay High School. A well-rounded student, he has earned varsity letters in swimming as well as numerous academic honors and has documented almost 1,000 service hours while at Bay. Photo attached.
“Our intention is to recognize achievement in math and science, “says Don O’Neal, a retired aerospace engineer. “We need lots scientists and engineers to keep our country strong and prosperous.”
Each year the O’Neal Family invites top math and science seniors to apply for this scholarship through their schools. Once applications are submitted, members of the O’Neal Family select the student with the highest grades and test scores in math and science.
