Law Enforcement and First Responders Receive Heroic Awards

They have been labeled as heroes. Law enforcement and first responders who came to the aid after a construction accident in Panama City and today they were recognized.

Men and women from the Panama City Police Department, Panama City Fire Department, and Bay County EMS were recognized for their work on the First Baptist Church scaffolding incident where two men were severely shocked.

Corporal Chris Taylor received the Medal of Distinction, EMS Captain Robert Jones and Paramedic James Lundeen both received Life Saving Awards, and fourteen others received certificates of recognition for Excellence in Service.

Chief Scott Ervin says these individuals face dangers every day and this was a perfect way to recognize them for that service.

“From a Chiefs perspective, just seeing that and we know we have the best men and women that work here at our agency whether it be the police department or whether it be other law enforcement agencies, EMS, or fire,” said Ervin. “We attract the best and top, brightest talent there is and they do a fantastic job every day and just tirelessly and selflessly.”

Chief Ervin says he could not ask for a better group of people and he values the great working relationship all the agencies share.
