It all came down to Friday for the Gulf Coast and Chipola baseball teams. Both squads, sure locks at State, but the Panhandle Conference title was still up for grabs. The Indians hold the tie break, so Gulf Coast looked for a win against Tallahassee at home, while they hoped Chipola lost to Northwest Florida State.
The Commodores led 5-2 until the top of the 7th inning, while Tallahassee hit a two run home run and a solo shot to tie it at five. With a one run 8th, and a two run 9th, the Eagles seeded up the 8-5 win over the Commodores, so Chipola, locked in the title. The Indians won for good measure, taking the 13-5 victory.
With the Tallahassee win, and the NW Florida loss, Tallahassee earns the Wild Card bid to State.
