The City of Panama City is one step closer to selecting a candidate for City Clerk Treasurer.
Commissioners met on Tuesday afternoon to interview two final candidates for the position.
Darlene Hachmeister, a Certified Public Accountant, and Helene Seay, Deputy City Treasurer for the City of Panama City, are the two possible candidates.
Commissioners spent about 30 minutes interviewing each individual to decide the best fit for the City.
CurrentCity Clerk Treasure, Terri Lillard, says the two candidates are familiar with the City and it will be a smooth transition.
“All the City Commissioners met with them and asked them questions about how they would handle certain situations,” said Lillard. “They both did a great job, I’m sure they’re going to have a hard decision to make.”
Commissioner John Kady says he is impressed with the qualifications of both individuals.
“We got two candidates that were so qualified, both technically qualified, and both gave good interviews,” said Kady. “So it’s going to be a hard decision, but we’re fortunate to have some good candidates.”
Lillard is retiring and her last day is June 30th. The Commissioners are expected to make a final decision next Tuesday morning, May 6th, at 8:00 a.m.
