An accident Saturday evening left a BayCounty one man is fighting for his life at Bay Medical Sacred Heart and another woman injured from a motorcycle accident in Panama City. Just after six o'clock Panama City Police responded to the accident at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and HWY 98.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident. According to Panama City Police Department a white man and woman in their 50's were traveling east bound on 15th Street when they were struck. According to Sgt. Jason Jeter, a green Kia Sedona was driving in front of the motorcycle and began to stop when the man driving the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle began to brake. A black Mazda following the bike struck the motorcycle causing it to hit the van.
Both man and woman on the motorcycle were sent to BayMedicalHospital and the man is in critical condition. There were no other injuries in the accident. According to Sgt. Jeter, with so many motorcycles on the road this week it's important to be extra alert, "People don't realize how fast motorcycles can accelerate. Motorcycles are not in an area and then suddenly they are there because they are hard to see and quick to move. We need motorist to be very careful and watch what they are doing. Give the motorcycle plenty of room just in case they didn't see the car coming." The East bound lane was close for nearly three hours and the accident is under investigation.
