The Bay County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the help of the public to identify suspects in a car burglary case in the Palm Bay subdivision on Panama City Beach. The suspects may be connected to several car burglaries in the same area.
On April 25, 2014, at about 4:00 AM deputies were called to a home within Palm Bay by the victim of a car burglary. The victim stated he came out to his vehicle to go to work and noticed his neighbor’s truck had the driver side door opened and the interior light on. Then the victim noticed a black male sitting in his car. The victim confronted the suspect and fought with him, slamming him on the side of his car, denting it. The victim told deputies he tried to call 911 but his phone had slipped from his hand.
Two other suspects ran up to the fight and began yelling for the victim to stop. One of the suspects stated he had a gun and the victim stepped back and let the suspect leave with the other two. The three suspects rode away on bicycles.
Because of the physical altercation, evidence from one suspect was gathered. Investigators are awaiting test results from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The suspect the victim fought with is described as a black male in his late teens, with short dark hair, about 5’9” tall. Another suspect is described as a black male, nearly 6’ tall, in his 20’s, with short dreads. The victim did not see the third suspect well enough to describe him.
Video of one of the suspects was obtained. Anyone with information on this suspect is asked to contact the Bay County Sheriff’s Office at 747-4700 or Crime Stoppers at 785-TIPS.
