You may have noticed that Florida Black Bears have had a lot of media attention this year.
Now the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is looking into the reason for the bears showing up in populated areas. Thursday at the Bay County Public Library, FWC held a public workshop to get help from residents about the wild animals.
They are forming Stake Holder Groups in each of the seven Bear Management Units in the state to get input from citizens about their individual bear problems. Each district has its own unique challenge when it comes to keeping the furry creatures away from homes.
Each Stake Holder Group is comprised of volunteers from a Bear Management Unit and meets every three months.
