The Panama City Police Department continues to investigate a shooting incident that happened in the parking lot at the Panama City Mall, Thursday night.
According the PCPD, witnesses nearby saw two white cars sitting next to each other in the parking lot behind the JCPenneys entrance. Soon after, witnesses heard what sounded like five shots being fired.
Shell casings were recovered on-scene but police are still unsure at this time if those shots were fired at someone or into the air.
Witnesses were able to identify the vehicles as a white Crown Victoria that looked like it had previously been a police patrol car and a White Grand Marquis with custom chrome rims.
"In talking to some of the witnesses, we learned they had seen two vehicles sitting side by side next to each other, then they heard the shots and both vehicles fled the scene at a high rate of speed," said Sgt. Jon Morris. He added both cars fled in opposite ways and there have been no reports at local hospitals of anyone appearing to be injured by gunshot.
The police department continues to investigate the situation. They ask anyone with information to contact the police department.
Police are looking for a suspect that opened fire at the Panama City Mall.
Panama City Police investigators combed the parking lot between 8:30 and 9:00 Thursday night. It happened between JC Penney and the food court area.
Officers on scene say a man driving a white car fired five shots. No one was injured, but there were witnesses.
PCPD is still investigating and looking for the suspect.
