It’s one of the most unique reunions in Northwest Florida. A home for children in GulfCounty invites hundreds of their children from past and present back to relive memories together.
The Taunton family held their 4th Annual “Taunton Family Festival” in Wewahitchka on Saturday.
David and Abigail Taunton set out with a vision 35 years ago to provide a haven for homeless children. And to this day, around 300 children have the privilege of calling Taunton Family Children’s home, their home.
The festival, put on by LynnHavenUnitedMethodistChurch, is one of the only fundraisers of the year for the children’s home and it is a unique way to show the community the beautiful facility that has changed so many children’s lives.
Members of the Taunton family and people throughout the community were able to enjoy races, food, games, and fellowship with each other.
The festival is a very special way to bring many of the Taunton children back together again and Mrs. Taunton hopes it continues to grow in the future.
“It’s real rewarding to see the one’s who have really down well and have their own families,” said Taunton. “They’ve grown up to be responsible adults and we’re really tickled to be a part of that.”
The Taunton’s are still helping children in need today through the support of the community. To find out more about the Taunton families story and how you can help, click here.
