Alford Man Charged After Interfering with Firefighters
On May 14, 2014 at approximately 8:30 p.m. a deputy responded to Ellie Lane in reference to assisting fire units with a reported barn or shed fire.
The deputy arrived and encountered Juan-Luis Cervantes. Cervantes was interfering with fire fighters efforts to extinguish the fire. The deputy gave several commands to cease his actions at which time Cervantes charged the deputy in an aggressive manner. The deputy deployed his Taser which immediately stopped Cervantes. Cervantes was subsequently arrested.
During the investigation evidence was present to indicate drug activity was present. The investigation is ongoing.
Cervantes was lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility awaiting first appearance. He has been charged with Preventing or Obstructing Extinguishment of Fire and Resisting Officer with Violence.
