The city of Lynn Haven has a new city manager. Joel Schubert grew up in Bay County, but spent the last 20 years working for the Florida Department of Revenue in Tallahassee. He's come home to a new job that has a few challenges, including a plan to stop flooding during the rainy season.
Schubert says the first 50-60 years of the 100 year old city didn't have a stormwater plan. "It is catching up with us hard, we made early victories in our public works and in the rains we had a couple of weeks ago, Schubert says, there may have been five or six homes flooded at least, of course it wasn't as bad as the July 4th rains we had, but it was still a significant event."
The new city manager says you have to work within the budget, but he plans on working with his experienced staff to find a long term solution to the problem. Another issue is technology and expanding what they have, making it easier for residents to pay bills on line in the future.
Schubert says he has an open door policy and looks forward to serving the residents of Lynn Haven.
