The second and final day of the 2014 Southern USA Championships hit the stage at Gulf World in Panama City Beach Saturday night.
Southern USA has been coming to Panama City Beach for 35 years, and former pro Shannon Dey won it back in 2001, and has been promoting and running the event for nearly a decade. Dey saying Saturday night that the sport has grown over the years, and it's no secret why.
"It takes a lot of work and dedication, but it's a great outlet for people, especially when you're past the age of high school and college and it's hard to find somewhere to compete," she said. "A lot of people have that competitive drive with them and they don't want to give it up. This is a great way to keep going all the way into your even older years."
Dey added coming to Panama City Beach is like coming back home, and she said the event will return for 2015.
