The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says on February 9th a 13 year old female along with her parents reported to deputies that she had been sexually assaulted by Christopher Michael Young of Graceville, who was 18 years of age at the time. The victim advised that she was first assaulted by the defendant during the summer of 2013. Young had allegedly taken the victim by the arm, pushed her onto the bed and forced her to have sexual intercourse with him. The victim stated that other incidents of sexual assault by the defendant had taken place over the past several months. An interview was conducted with Christopher Young during this investigation, at which time he acknowledged knowing the victim but denied having any sexual relationship with her.
DNA evidence was collected from both the victim and the defendant early on in the investigation. Recently Investigators with the JCSO received lab results from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Lab. These results confirmed that the defendant had in fact been sexually active with the 13 year old victim.
On Wednesday Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Christopher Michael Young, charging him with Lewd & Lascivious Battery on a child between the ages of 12 and 16 years of age. This charge is a second degree felony punishable up to 15 years in prison.
