Burglary Suspect Arrested After Posting Stolen Items Online

Posted: Updated:
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a real estate agent on June 1st, after she discovered a home in Bayou George she had listed for sale had been burglarized.

Deputies arrived at the home and discovered significant damage to the back door. Although the home was empty, there were new appliances in the kitchen. The stainless steel refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher had been taken.

BCSO Criminal Investigations opened a case and subsequently discovered new stainless steel appliances were being advertised on Craigslist for sale by Randy Todd Montgomery. The real estate agent confirmed to investigators that Randy Todd Montgomery was the name of a man that had contacted her to inquire about a home in the Bayou George area that was for sale. She had taken him to the home for him to look inside shortly before it had been burglarized. The ad on Craigslist listed RTA Design at 437 Harrison Avenue as the location of the appliances. Investigators made contact with Montgomery, age 47, at the Harrison Avenue address and determined the appliances in his possession were the ones stolen from the home in Bayou George.

Montgomery was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with Burglary. He was taken to the Bay County Jail.
