It was a packed house at News 13 on Saturday as we held the 22nd annual auction for the Panama City Marine Institute.
Our studio was filled with PCMI Volunteers, businesses answering phone calls, and some of our own television personalities as about 200 items of varying worth were auctioned off one by one.
People from the community spent all afternoon calling in to support the school. The money raised will help with funds for boats, scuba gear, and other aquatic items so the students can continue to get a unique education.
Ron Boyce, Executive Director of PCMI, says he is thankful for the support from businesses and the community each and every year.
“The support is just so heartwarming,” said Boyce. “The people of Panama City love their PCMI school, they love the idea of a school that uses our beautiful St. AndrewsBay and our ocean to work with kids and they support it every year.”
Boyce says the auction raises around $30,000 for the school each year and they hope to do the same this year.
