Over 6,000 students earn high school diplomas from online and blended schools using K12
HERNDON, Va., June 26, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- K12 Inc., America's largest provider of K-12 online learning, is honoring the more than 6000 students who graduated this year from online and blended schools using the award-winning K12® education program.
"The graduates of K12's class of 2014 are true pioneers," said K12 Chairman and CEO, Nate Davis. "K12's online and blended schools are innovative educational models that require a high level of individual effort, hard work and self-discipline. We congratulate these students on their achievements, commend the parents for their support and guidance, and thank our teachers and school leaders for their service."
K12 schools around the country held graduation ceremonies that brought students, parents, teachers, and school administrators together from all across the state. Many schools celebrated their inaugural graduation class. Graduates from K12-led schools received millions in academic scholarships and have been accepted to some of the nation's top colleges and universities.
Last year, more than 4,000 students graduated from online and blended schools supported by K12.
Each student has a unique story, and their reasons for choosing K12 online and blended schools are as diverse as the student population itself. Some choose these schools because it allows them to learn at an advanced pace and take college-level courses, while others come to online and blended schools to find refuge from unsafe schools, bullying, or negative peer pressures. K12 also helps students with special needs overcome learning challenges, and provides new opportunities to students in need of credit recovery or who had dropped out of school.
In partnership with school districts and charter schools, K12 operates online and blended public schools in over 30 states. K12 also operates accredited online private schools serving students in the U.S. and more than 100 countries. By connecting students to their teachers using powerful technology, online schools offer students access to a full-time, full-service school option where students can learn at home, on their own time and at their own pace.
K12 provides highly individualized and engaging learning programs where students access rigorous curricula and diverse course electives. With K12, students develop the skills of self-learning and hard work essential to succeed at the next level.
